Airport

This evening I arrived in Nairobi and picked Kine from the airport. After that we met up with some friends at Village Market, in Nairobi. Amr is finally back from Palestine and it was so good to see him. Helene is also visiting from Trondheim, in Norway. We played bowling. Tomorrow Helene Bjerkestrand, Kine Kristiansen and I are going to Masai Mara for a safari.

Jannik

Being here since September i still wonder about the fact that I meet so many different, special people. Here, in Kenya. Europe seems to be so familiar, but still you keep on meeting new, interesting characters, meeting friends from that area that seems to be your home. By chance you go to the green garden in order to order a German Curry Sausage and you meet that person you know, that girl you met maybe twice. You keep on talking, find similarities, differences and sure have a great time. Sure, working in the Lab of Nyabondo Mission Hospital is interesting. Having the opportunity of working like a laboratory assistant, watching surgeries is great. But what is the stay in Kenya about? It s definately not the work but meeting new people. The FSD (free social services) of Cologne, Germany did not send me here to be efficient, working like a bee but about meeting new people. You talk about the work, achievments, disappointments and, again achievments. And, finally, I hate to write in English, cause it seems that the essence, the true meaning of what I write gets spoiled by a language I can speak, but cant master. But isnt it awesome to wake up, inhale, exhale, realize where you are, what you are doing, feeling the world, feeling this world fullfilling you, inhaling and just be happy? T.I fuckin A.!

Jannik flies from Kisumu

Today I have welcomed three german boys. They visited Kisumu to buy some flighttickets to Tanzania. It’s always good to meet people from Europe.

From Mfangano island to Kisumu.

Today Ellen Hammarskiold came from Mfaugano island, an island in Lake Victoria, to Kisumu. We spent the evening together in Simba club, where they serve indian food buffet every friday. The food was wonderful. It is so good to have visitors. Ellen is my neighbour from Sweden.
