Your Luo-name


In kenya there is a lot of tribes. The biggest tribe in Kisumu is the Luo-tribe. That is why the people in Kisumu speak the Luo-language. When a child is born in the Luo-community it gets a Luo-name. These names are given according to when you are born in the day and in which season. Here you can find your Luo-Name:


Born, time of the day

Morning, 3am-9am: Akinyi (Fmale) or Okinyi (Male)

Late morning, 9am-11am: Anyango (F) or Onyango (M)

Noon, 11am-3pm: Achieng (F) or Ochieng (M)

After noon, 3pm- 7pm: Adhiambo (F) or Odhiambo (M)

Evening, 7pm-12pm: Atieno (F) or Otieno (M)

Night, 12-3am: Aduor (F) or Oduor (M)

Drought: Awuor (F) or Owuor (M)
