Park(ing) day!

Friday was what is called a “Park(ing) day” in Dronningens gate in the middle of Oslo city center. This day is a yearly event worldwide. On this day artists, designers and other people can transform parking spaces into public parks for one day. The architectural firm Dronninga Landskap was the host.
It was really amazing to walk through the small park, with flowers, fruits, hammocks and grass.

I think people enjoyed it, as I did.
Thanks to Dronninga Landskap who made it happen.

It is actually possible for any organization to apply to the local authorities for permission to borrow parts of a street to arrange a public event. I think that more people should do this. It’s wonderful to have more parks in the city even if they’re there only for a day.

A smoothie makes the day

Good "morning"! What about a smoothie after a long night?
There are many good smoothie recipes. Here is one I created. Currently it’s my favorite. I’ve named it Elisabeth-special!

Recipe:
- Tree bananas
- 200 grams of frozen strawberries
- 3 dl yoghurt without flavor
- About 3 dl cola zero.

Sometimes the banana flavour can be too dominant, but in this smoothie that’s not the case. It’s a perfect lunch or evening snack.

Enjoy! :)

Padlock-love

There are many "love bridges" in different countries. I've seen one in Paris and another in Riga. There is also one in Oslo. This crosses Akerselva between the College of Architecture and the Art Academy. There is still much room for padlocks with names or initials. I found the padlock in the picture extra sweet.

The point of the padlocks is to "lock" the love between you and your loved one. When you have attached the padlock you are supposed to thrown the key into the river. That way, nothing can break your love. There is of course a bit annoying if your relationship does not last, but I have not yet seen anyone with a pincer on the bridge, trying to remove a padlock. Perhaps the love-bridge works? J

In Paris they had to remove the padlocks because they were too heavy for the bridge. This is not yet the case in Oslo, so take a trip to see or contribute with a padlock if you want to.

It's oh so quiet

Having worked with the election from 8 am to midnight yesterday, I woke up because of loud noises. It's typical that the walls of the neighbouring building have to be cleaned and painted the day after the election. :)

Last change!

Today is the last chance to vote in the municipal election in Norway. Run and use your voice by voting!
